Xylonite - mind expansion

The current ILFORD Photo is situated at Town Lane, Mobberley, Knutsford, Cheshire, WA16 7JL, England, on part of the old Rajar factory site at Mobberley which became the sole film and paper manufacturing premises for Ilford (then Ilford Anitec) in 1996. The Mobberley site has been the home of a photographic company since around 1901, originally under the name of the Brooks-Watson Daylight Camera Company Ltd who had their main premises in Great Homer Street, Liverpool. They seemingly wished to move into the production of light sensitive materials and viewed the cleaner air of rural Cheshire as a better home for such an activity than Liverpool. In 1907, Brooks Watson formed a subsidiary company which they called Rajar (1907) Ltd and around that time the name on the front of the Mobberley factory building was changed from Brooks Watson to Rajar.
